Alex Guarachi arrived in California from Santiago, Chile, in 1976 at 18, on a soccer scholarship. When an injury ended his playing days he went into wine, starting an import business from his garage that became one of the country's first importers of South American wines; Wine Enthusiast named Guarachi Wine Partners Importer of the Year in 2010. In 2007 he started his own label, Guarachi Family Wines.
He bought Sun Chase Vineyard in Sonoma's Petaluma Gap in 2013 for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and Meadowrock Estate up Soda Canyon Road in the Atlas Peak AVA in 2014, finishing a winery there in 2017. Every bottle is estate grown and finished by hand, and winemaker Julian Gonzales makes the wines. The winery cites a 97-point score from Wine Enthusiast and a Robb Report list of top Pinot Noirs.
Guarachi has no public tasting room, and the estate is not open for walk-ins. VIP tastings at Meadowrock have been offered by request with at least two days' notice, arranged with the winery's team, which makes for a quiet, private look at a mountain estate few visitors see. We make the request on your behalf and confirm the time and any fee.
Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
