An afternoon tasting room from a family that has made California wine since 1832, open late with walk-ins welcome, and a suggested day that ends there.
Book a Six-Hour Wine Tour
Gen 7 Wines draws on three family lines, the Vaché, Biane and Bacino families, who have made California wine since 1832. The name refers to the family's seventh generation in wine, and sixth-generation winemaker Tim Bacino leads the label. The winery puts the family's long history front and center, and the tasting room tells that story through the wines.
Tim travels to boutique vineyards across California each year to choose fruit, from Napa Valley, St. Helena and Knights Valley to Russian River, Sonoma Coast, Lodi and Santa Barbara. The range runs from whites and sparkling wine to reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and dessert wine, plus an Art Series made with artist Lisa L. Cook, with reds aged 9 to 21 months in French oak.
The tasting room is in The Living Room at the Meritage Grand Reserve in south Napa, with indoor and outdoor seating. It opens in the afternoon and stays open until 7 p.m., so it works well as the last stop of the day. Walk-ins are welcome, children and dogs too, and cheese and charcuterie boards are on hand.
$40 for the Signature Tasting, five wines of your choice. $55 for the Reserve Red Tasting, six wines including three Cabernet Sauvignon vintages. $125 for the Vaché Société Tasting of the most limited wines.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Archer Hotel Napa or Andaz Napa. Gen 7 opens at 3 p.m. on weekdays, so it is the last stop of the day.
Both hotels are in downtown Napa, about 12 minutes from Palmaz and about 10 minutes from Gen 7's tasting room at the end of the day. The day below runs a little over six hours because Gen 7 opens in the afternoon, and extra time can be added by the hour.
