Force & Grace is a portfolio of Napa Valley wines founded by vintner Joseph Carr, who created Josh Cellars before it. The name joins two pursuits from his own life, state-champion wrestling in high school and modern dance in college, and in the glass it stands for the force of ripe fruit balanced by the grace of bright acidity. The brand is part of Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits.
The winemaker is Jean Hoefliger, who honed his craft at Château Lynch-Bages and Alpha Omega, among others, and aims to showcase the best appellations within Napa Valley. The 2022 collection has five wines: Carneros, Napa Valley, Rutherford, Oakville and a blend called Revelist. The labels are photographs by fine art photographer Neal Grundy of original fabric sculptures.
The wines are sold online, at retailers (the site has a store locator) and through a wine club that offers early access, savings and events. Force & Grace publishes no tasting room or visiting program, so it does not receive visitors. The day below heads up the valley to family wineries in Calistoga and St. Helena that do host.
Force & Grace does not offer tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Since Force & Grace does not host visitors, this day takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do. Harvest Inn and Alila Napa Valley are both in St. Helena, about 12 to 15 minutes from the first stop. The day runs under six hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.
About 12 minutes away. A Napa name from 1975, back in the valley at a solar-powered Calistoga estate on Dunaweal Lane, with seated tastings and a caviar pairing. The seated Heritage Tasting of four wines is $50, about 90 minutes. Open daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; reservations recommended.
About 8 minutes away. A small Calistoga Cabernet winery on the grounds of Four Seasons Napa Valley, with Thomas Rivers Brown as winemaker and a vineyard planted among the villas. The Calistoga Exploration is $55, about 45 minutes. Thursday to Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; final session at 3:30 p.m.
About 5 minutes away. Lunch at Sam's Social Club at Indian Springs in Calistoga, a sit-down restaurant named for town founder Samuel Brannan, serving lunch Monday through Friday and brunch on weekends. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 20 minutes away. A family ranch farmed by the Snowdens since 1955, poured in a one-room tasting room on Railroad Avenue in St. Helena, for one group at a time. The hosted tasting of four wines is $40, with $40 credited for every $100 spent; we allow about an hour. By appointment only.
Back by about 3:35 p.m., under six hours after pickup.
About $145 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.
Elusa is closed Wednesdays, and Snowden hosts one group at a time by appointment. Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting.
