Aaron and Meredith Michaelis met over a glass of wine at a Napa Valley tasting Aaron was hosting, and founded Flint Knoll in 2016. The name honors the Flint Hills of Kansas, where their roots run deep, and the couple speaks openly about faith, hard work and Midwestern restraint as the values behind the brand. It is intentionally small and personal.
The focus is singular: mountain-grown Bordeaux varieties, led by Cabernet Sauvignon, from vineyards on Spring Mountain, Diamond Mountain, Howell Mountain and Pritchard Hill. Philippe Melka, with more than three decades in Bordeaux and Napa, makes the wine with Maayan Koschitzky. The Michaelises describe the style as powerful yet refined, with measured French oak.
There is no public tasting room. Tastings are by appointment, requested by email, and the winery sets the time and place. Expect a personal visit with the people behind the bottle rather than a busy tasting bar. Once Flint Knoll confirms, we drive you there and plan the rest of the day around it.
Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation. Flint Knoll does not publish a tasting fee.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Four Seasons Napa Valley or Dr. Wilkinson's. The winery sets the time and place, so the start may move once it confirms.
Four Seasons Napa Valley sits on the Silverado Trail and Dr. Wilkinson's on Lincoln Avenue in downtown Calistoga. Flint Knoll confirms where you taste when it sets the appointment, and we adjust the drive. The day below fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.
A private tasting by appointment. The length is not published; we allow about an hour.
About 12 minutes away. A restored 19th-century homestead on Diamond Mountain making single-vineyard, single-varietal wines. The private estate tasting includes a walk of the historic farmstead and a chef-crafted cheese and charcuterie plate; we allow about 75 minutes. Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation. By appointment only.
About 15 minutes away. Lunch at The Charter Oak at the south end of St. Helena, Christopher and Martina Kostow's family-style New American restaurant, open daily for lunch. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 15 minutes away. Jackson Family Wines' Spring Mountain estate, where a host walks you from the foyer to a balcony over the valley to taste four Cabernet Sauvignons, from Mount Veeder, Howell Mountain, Spring Mountain and Diamond Mountain, side by side. The Mountain Experience is $250, about 90 minutes. By appointment, prepaid on Tock; parties of 2 to 6, 21 and over.
Back by about 4:15 p.m., a little over six hours after pickup.
About $250 per person for Lokoya, plus the fees for Flint Knoll and Theorem, which are confirmed when we book. Fees are paid directly to each winery.
Flint Knoll sets the time and place of each tasting, so the order of the day may change once it confirms. The day runs a little past six hours; an extra half hour can be added.
