About the Winery

Fiftyrow was founded in 2002 by business executive Paul Johnson and veteran Napa winemaker Gary Galleron. Johnson took over the winemaking in 2011 and works with Jake Stuessy. Fiftyrow is now sold through Wineplayground, a small wine company that also makes Smokescreen, a wine for everyday drinking with friends and food.

The focus is single-vineyard wine from Napa Valley and the surrounding area, with a stated goal of delivering the wine you expect from Napa without three digits in the price. Current releases include the Alice Block Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford, the Galleron Cuvée red blend, a Charbono from Suisun Valley and a Cabernet from the Mallard Vineyard in Sonoma Valley.

Tastings are by reservation at the winery's address on Solano Avenue in the Oak Knoll District, according to the Napa Valley Vintners: about an hour, with six wines and an optional barrel tasting. It is a relaxed, small-producer visit and a nice contrast with the mountain estates later in the day. We book it for you and confirm the details when we reserve.
