About the Winery

Earthshine is the label of winemaker and proprietor Shawna Miller, who ran the winemaking program at Luna Vineyards from 2011 until the winery's sale in 2021. She spent her twenties working harvests in New Zealand, Australia and Napa Valley, worked alongside Celia Welch and Philippe Melka, and was named by Decanter among the world's most influential women winemakers. She also consults for other Napa brands.

The focus is unusual for Napa: age-worthy Sangiovese and Super Tuscan blends. A little-known block at the Vyborny family's Game Farm Vineyard in Oakville supplies the Sangiovese, which she believes can rival the best Brunellos. The name comes from astronomy, the glow of sunlight reflected off the Earth that lights the dark side of the moon, a term first described by Leonardo da Vinci.

Earthshine pours at Mia Carta, a shared tasting room for small-lot wineries on First Street in downtown Napa, open Wednesday to Sunday. Walk-ins are welcome, and groups of up to 8 can book ahead. Private vineyard tours are offered on a limited basis by request. We book the table and ask about a vineyard visit for you.

Tasting Fees

Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation. Earthshine and Mia Carta do not publish tasting prices on the winery's site.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
