Calderón Wine is a small, family-owned producer whose story begins in Guanajuato, Mexico. Years ago the family's father left his homeland and crossed borders in pursuit of a better life, and his children now carry that dream forward, weaving their Mexican heritage into every bottle. The family describes the wine as a tribute to an immigrant who ventured beyond boundaries.
The wine is a vineyard-designate Cabernet Sauvignon from the Savage Estate Vineyard, east of the Silverado Trail in Calistoga, between town and the Palisades, on volcanic loam. The 2022 is 100% Cabernet from 25- to 30-year-old vines, aged 22 months in French oak, 60% new, and only 100 cases were made. It carries the Calistoga AVA on the label.
Calderón sells its wine in three-, six- and twelve-bottle sets through its website. There is no tasting room or published visit program, so it does not receive visitors. The day below stays in Calistoga, near the Savage Estate Vineyard, at estates that do host: a former water plant, an 1879 mountain estate and a winery built into the hillside.
Calderón Wine does not offer tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
