About the Winery

Kelly Gorman and Steve Carnevale met in New York, and trips to Napa Valley together started a lasting love of the place. In 1999, while raising infant twin sons, they found and bought this small estate in the Coombsville AVA, on what is now called Blue Oak Lane. The family, including the twins, William and Steven, still owns it.

The vineyard was planted in the mid-1990s and has just three acres under vine, with a focus on Merlot. The family says it farms with one goal: wines "that speak to the soul of this land." The wines are made by Grant Long Jr., a Napa native who is also the winemaker behind Aonair and Reverie.

Blue Oak is a family estate, not a tasting room, and its website lists no visits or tastings. The wines are sold through the shop on blueoakvineyard.com. The day below takes you to three sought-after estates in Coombsville and the hills east of Napa that do welcome guests.
