Calistoga · Napa Valley
A tiny-production Cabernet estate on a mountain ranch that straddles the Napa-Sonoma line, with redwoods and views of Mount St. Helena, and a suggested six-hour day of tasting around it.

Phil and Beth Rielly bought this 230-acre ranch above Calistoga in 2016 and took up winemaking from scratch. The land has a long farming story: Luis Robledo, part of the team today, helped plant the first vineyard blocks in 1972 and tended the vines for the previous owners, the Hayes family. Winemaker Haley Wight, a sixth-generation Napan, makes the wine, and Erik Dodd farms the vineyard.
The estate sits in the Calistoga AVA high in the Mayacamas range, right on the Napa-Sonoma county line. Young Cabernet Sauvignon vines, planted from 2017, grow on volcanic soils beside stands of redwoods, with Mount St. Helena to the east and coastal Sonoma to the west. The 2022 bottling is the last to include the estate's 1974 old vines, and the lineup skips 2020, the year of the Glass Fire.
This is a very small, personal operation: about 215 cases of the 2022 Estate Cabernet, each bottle hand waxed, wrapped in tissue and packed in a wooden six-bottle box. There is no tasting room. Aspire is not open to the public, and visits are by request through the winery's tasting request form, so we make the request for you and plan the rest of the day once the estate confirms a time.
Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation. Aspire does not publish a tasting fee; the estate confirms it when a visit is accepted.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Good to Know
A visit depends on the owners' availability, so ask well ahead. Ages, group size and pet policy are not published; we confirm them when the request is accepted. The wine is sold by the six-bottle box online and through the Aspire wine club.
Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Four Seasons Napa Valley or Indian Springs. Aspire sets visit times on request, so the start time may move once the estate confirms.
Both are close to the ranch: Indian Springs, the historic hot springs resort in downtown Calistoga, is about 5 minutes away, and Four Seasons Napa Valley on the Silverado Trail is about 10. If Aspire offers a different time, we build the day around it. The day below fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.
A private visit to the mountain ranch, arranged by request. The estate does not publish a length of visit or fee, so we allow about an hour and confirm the details when the visit is accepted.
About 15 minutes away. A Spring Mountain estate founded by Fred and Eleanor McCrea, reached by a short climb off Highway 29 and known for Chardonnay made since the 1950s. Taste of Stony Hill is $75, up to an hour. By reservation.
About 10 minutes away. Lunch at The Charter Oak at the south end of St. Helena, Christopher and Martina Kostow's family-style New American restaurant, open daily for lunch. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 15 minutes away. A Howard Backen designed winery on the Silverado Trail with 11,000 square feet of caves and wide views over the north valley. The Napa Cave Tour and Wine Tasting walks the vineyard, winery and caves, then sits you at a private table with small bites ($125, about 90 minutes, at 2 p.m.). By reservation, up to 6 guests.
Back by about 3:45 p.m., within six hours of pickup.
Adds about an hour. The stone chateau whose 1973 Chardonnay won the 1976 Paris Tasting. A Taste of Montelena is offered daily to walk-ins ($65, about 45 minutes, 21 and over), and the tasting room closes at 4 p.m., so to fit it in we take the shorter Estate Wine and Food Pairing at Davis Estates ($100, 60 minutes) instead of the cave tour.
About $200 per person in tasting fees for Stony Hill and Davis Estates, plus Aspire's fee, which is confirmed when the visit is arranged. Fees are paid directly to each winery.
Aspire hosts only by request, so the whole day is set once the estate confirms a time. Stony Hill has posted reservations Thursday to Monday in the past; we confirm its days when booking and swap in another estate if needed.
