Luke Evnin and Deann Wright bought a home in Rutherford in 2000 to escape the San Francisco summer fog, and dreamed for years of making their own wine. They founded Annulus in 2019 with their daughters Alexandra and Elena. The name is Latin for ring, a nod to the yearly cycle of the vineyard and to the circle of family and friends around a table.
Winemaker Nigel Kinsman, formerly in charge of the Cabernet portfolio at Araujo, makes the wines, and the late Michel Rolland consulted until his passing in 2026. The fruit comes from heritage sites: Vine Hill Ranch in Oakville, Beckstoffer Las Piedras at the foot of Spring Mountain, planted in the 1840s and called the first vineyard in the St. Helena appellation, and a Diamond Mountain vineyard first planted by Ted Lemon in 1989.
You taste where the wine is made, at the green-certified Wheeler Farms on Zinfandel Lane in the St. Helena AVA. The 90-minute tasting pours four wines with artisan cheese. For a longer visit the family offers a multi-course paired lunch, and in season a relaxed family-style lunch in the Olive Grove for groups of six or more. Reservations start with a request form, and the team confirms availability.
$150 for the Tasting Experience, four wines with artisan cheese pairings, about 90 minutes. Seasonal family-style lunch in the Olive Grove from $185 (groups of six or more). Multi-course paired lunch from $250.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
