Napa · Napa Valley

Amlés is the wine label of Sharon Virts and Scott Miller, who in 2016 began restoring Selma, a run-down 19th-century estate in Loudoun County, Virginia. Amlés is Selma spelled backward, with an accent added. Learning that Thomas Jefferson once grew grapes nearby, the couple decided to make wine, starting in Napa Valley, and a portion of the proceeds funds their Virts Miller Foundation.
They engaged Philippe Melka, and the Napa Valley wines are made by Melka and Maayan Koschitzky: the Portrait and Reflectionist Cabernet Sauvignons and Visage, a Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon blend. The first vintage was 2018, and Portrait has drawn on the Glass Slipper Vineyard in Coombsville. The couple has since added a Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and a Mosel Riesling from other winemakers.
Amlés sells through its website and wine clubs and does not host tastings, so it does not receive visitors. Since Philippe Melka makes the wine, the day below starts at Parallel, a Melka-made Cabernet house north of St. Helena, then visits a Merlot family that pours for you themselves and a French-owned tasting house with a garden.
Amlés does not offer tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

About 8 minutes away. A small, French-owned winery pouring single-vineyard wines in a St. Helena tasting house and garden, with food options from La Toque. A private tasting of six wines is $75; we allow about 75 minutes. By reservation, open daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Back by about 4:15 p.m., about six and a half hours after pickup.
About $250 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.
MTGA is open Wednesday to Sunday and Parallel Monday to Saturday, so plan this day for Wednesday to Saturday; Parallel asks for about 14 days' notice. The day runs about six and a half hours; extra time is billed by the hour. Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting.
