Andrew Renda and Jarred Pearce founded AJ Pearce Wines in 2007, and their first release was a Pierret Vineyard Syrah and a proprietary red blend. Andy came to Napa in 2005 after restaurant kitchens and wine shops in the Boston area and became director of sales at Vintners Collective, where he met Jarred, a California native who started out selling wine at Oakville Grocery.
Jarred studied viticulture and enology at Napa Valley College, was cellarmaster at Piña Cellars in Rutherford, worked two harvest internships in South Africa, and then became cellarmaster at Fantesca, working with Heidi Barrett and Philippe Melka. His belief is that wine is made in the vineyard. The pair's favorite appellation is Coombsville, southeast of the city of Napa, for its long, cool growing season and even ripening.
You taste the wines at The Wine Thief on First Street, a tasting room owned and run by its vintners, who pour small labels rarely found anywhere else. Walk-ins are welcome, so it makes a relaxed start to the day. We pick you up in time for the 11 a.m. opening, then head out to lunch among the vineyards, Oakville and a private estate in the hills east of town.
Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation. The Wine Thief does not publish its tasting prices online.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
