Denise and Stephen Adams first followed their love of farming and wine to Saint-Émilion, where they restored Château Fonplégade. In 2008 they found this property on Howell Mountain and saw its potential for great mountain wines. Denise carries the estate forward after Stephen's death, and ADAMVS makes only estate wines: three Cabernet Sauvignons and one Sauvignon Blanc.
The estate covers 80 acres between about 1,500 and 2,000 feet, with 28 acres planted across five vineyard sites, 25 of them Cabernet Sauvignon from nine selected clones. It has been Demeter-certified biodynamic for more than sixteen years, and the in-house team tends each vine by hand at least seven times a season.
Visits here are private estate tours and tastings, offered by advance appointment to mailing list members. The list is free to join, though new names go onto a waiting list for allocations. We send the request on your behalf, and plan the rest of the day around the time the estate confirms.
Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Visits are for mailing list members; the list is free to join (21 and over), and new sign-ups go on a waiting list for allocations. The estate is on White Cottage Road in Angwin, about 25 minutes up the mountain from St. Helena.
Pickup at 9:45 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Meadowood or Alila Napa Valley.
We pick up at 9:45 because the estate is about 25 minutes up Howell Mountain. Meadowood, a resort in its own valley at the foot of the mountain, is the closer of the two, and Alila Napa Valley is a Hyatt resort in downtown St. Helena. The estate confirms the tour time, and pickup moves with it. The day runs about six and three-quarter hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.
A private estate tour and tasting of the biodynamic vineyards and estate wines, by advance appointment. We allow about 90 minutes. Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation.
About 12 minutes away. A small family winery near the top of Howell Mountain, where the tasting is poured in the vineyard under an old black walnut tree. The Private Wine Tasting with a vineyard and winery walk is $65, about 75 minutes (waived with a $150 purchase). By appointment only; closed Sundays.
About 25 minutes away. Down the mountain to St. Helena for lunch at The Charter Oak, Christopher and Martina Kostow's family-style New American restaurant, open daily from 11:30 a.m. (11 a.m. on weekends). Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 8 minutes away. Coombsville Cabernet poured in a restored matte-black Victorian north of St. Helena. Act I is $75, 60 to 90 minutes, with snacks from the Haus kitchen. Reservations are required; open Thursday through Monday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Back by about 4:30 p.m., about six and three-quarter hours after pickup.
About $140 per person in tasting fees for Red Thread and Faust, plus the ADAMVS fee, to be verified upon reservation; paid directly to each winery.
Red Thread is closed Sundays and Faust is closed Tuesday and Wednesday, so this day works Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Monday. It runs about six and three-quarter hours, back by about 4:30 p.m. ADAMVS sets its tour time, and we adjust the day around it.
Every tour is custom. This day is a starting point: your chauffeur will shape it around what matters to you, and we plan multi-day tours for guests who want to see more of wine country.
