About Jayson Woodbridge

• A former investment banker who switched to wine with no formal training.
• Hundred Acre's first vintage was 2000 (the 2000 Kayli Morgan Cabernet), made with early guidance from consultant Philippe Melka; some sources date the project's start to 1998.
• Owns Hundred Acre Wine Group with his wife Helen; they are the sole owners and he is the sole winemaker.
• Farms three estate Cabernet sites: Morgan's Way in St. Helena (about 9 acres, called Kayli Morgan until the 2019 vintage and named for his daughter), the Ark Vineyard at the foot of Howell Mountain (about 13 acres) and Few and Far Between near Calistoga (about 5 acres).
• Also makes old-vine Shiraz from the Ancient Way Vineyard in Australia's Barossa Valley.
• Built and in 2017 sold the value-priced Layer Cake, Cherry Pie and If You See Kay brands.
• Restored the Historic David Fulton Vineyard in St. Helena, first planted in 1860, as home of his Fortunate Son label; Summer Dreams makes Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc in tiny lots, mostly from the Sonoma Coast.
• The company says Hundred Acre wines have earned more than 30 perfect 100-point scores from The Wine Advocate and Jeb Dunnuck (33 as of October 2022).
• Bottles are known for a gold band and beeswax seal; he has also been distilling an unreleased single malt aged in used Hundred Acre barrels.
