About the Winery

Zina Hyde Cunningham came to California in 1849 at 17, farmed Zinfandel and Alicante in what is now Windsor, and by 1865 was planting vineyards in Mendocino County. His son and grandson kept the family winery going until Prohibition closed it. Decades later his great-grandson Bill Cunningham revived the name, sourcing fruit from the Anderson Valley and making wine again in 2004. After Bill died in 2008, his cousin Steve Ledson took on the label.

The winery is small, with at most 3,000 cases a year, and the wines are sold only at the tasting room, online and through the wine club. The winemaker works without fining or filtering. The lineup runs from Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Rosé to Anderson Valley and Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, Mendocino County Carignane and Zinfandel, and a blend called Veola.

Tastings are in the Zina Lounge, inside the Ledson Hotel on the historic Sonoma Plaza, by the fireplace or on the patio. The lounge also pours Ledson and Mountain Terraces wines, so the longer flight takes in all three. It is an easy first stop on a Sonoma day, steps from the shops and restaurants on the square.

Tasting Fees

$35 plus tax for the Zina Lounge Flight, a seated tasting of three wines, about 60 minutes.

$55 plus tax for the Taste of Ledson, a seated tasting of five wines from Zina Hyde Cunningham, Ledson and Mountain Terraces, about 90 minutes.

A cheese and charcuterie board can be added to either. We confirm the current price when we book.

Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
