WindRacer is the label of proprietors Barbara Banke and Peggy Furth, friends for decades and owners of successful racehorses, who set out to combine their two passions in one brand. The name and the labels lean on Thoroughbred racing, and the wines are Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
The grapes come in small lots from single vineyards along the coasts of Mendocino County's Anderson Valley and Sonoma County. The 2019 releases include a Tidal Break Vineyard Chardonnay from the Sonoma Coast, 140 cases, which Wine Enthusiast rated 92 points; an Alexander Mountain Estate Vineyard Chardonnay from about 700 feet on the western ridge of the Mayacamas, 208 cases; and a Saralee's Vineyard Chardonnay from the Russian River Valley. The Chardonnays list at $65 a bottle.
The wines are sold online at windracerwines.com, and a newsletter announces releases and events. WindRacer lists an address on Highway 128 in Healdsburg but no tasting room or visit program, so it does not receive visitors. The day below covers Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on Westside Road and ends in Alexander Valley.
WindRacer does not offer tastings. The three wineries on the day below run about $125 per person: $25 at Rochioli, $55 at Gary Farrell and $45 at Medlock Ames.
Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a Healdsburg hotel such as The Madrona or Hotel Healdsburg.
Since WindRacer does not host visitors, this day takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do. The Madrona sits at the start of Westside Road and Hotel Healdsburg is on the plaza, each about 15 to 20 minutes from the first stop. The day runs about six and a half hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.
About 20 minutes away. A family estate on Westside Road that began planting Pinot Noir in 1968. The Estate Flight is $25, three or four estate wines; we allow about 75 minutes. Monday to Saturday by appointment, with seatings at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 and 2:30 p.m.
About 5 minutes away. Single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from a hilltop winery on Westside Road. The Discovery Tasting is $55, about 90 minutes, outdoors. Open daily 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
About 20 minutes away. A late lunch at Valette, a Sonoma County restaurant just off the Healdsburg plaza; we confirm hours when we book. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 15 minutes away. Organically farmed Bell Mountain wines poured on a garden patio in Alexander Valley. The Signature Tasting is $45, one hour. Open daily 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Back by about 4:30 p.m., about six and a half hours after pickup.
Rochioli is closed Sundays, so plan this day Monday to Saturday. For an earlier lunch, swap the order and visit Medlock Ames before lunch.
About $125 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.
