Vérité

About the Winery

Vérité grew out of a friendship between Jess Jackson (1930 to 2011), who founded Kendall-Jackson, and Pierre Seillan, a vigneron from Bordeaux whom Jackson met in France in the 1990s. Jackson wanted to make a wine from Sonoma County to rival the best in the world, and when Seillan visited California in 1997 he agreed to come and make it with him. Seillan has made the wines of Vérité since 1998, and his daughter, Hélène Seillan, is assistant winemaker.

Seillan works as a vigneron, overseeing both the vineyards and the cellar, and builds each wine from micro-crus: small blocks chosen for their soil, exposure and elevation across Vérité's vineyards in the Chalk Hill, Alexander Valley, Knights Valley and Bennett Valley appellations. There are three Bordeaux-style blends, La Muse, La Joie and Le Désir, and a newer wine, Le Diamant.

The estate is on Thomas Road east of Healdsburg and opens only by prior appointment. The Estate Tasting pours the three current Vérité wines and one library vintage with curated accompaniments over about two hours, and the 25th Anniversary Library Comparison Tasting begins with vintage Champagne and Le Diamant with caviar. Because the visit is long and unhurried, we start the day early and keep the two stops after it short.

Tasting Fees

$250 for the Estate Tasting of the three current Vérité wines and one library vintage, about 2 hours. $425 for the 25th Anniversary Library Comparison Tasting, about 2½ hours. $495 for the Library Wine and Food Pairing, seven or more wines with seasonal dishes, about 2½ hours.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

A Suggested Six-Hour Day

Pickup at 9:30 a.m. from a Healdsburg hotel such as Montage Healdsburg or Hotel Healdsburg.

9:30 · Pickup at Montage Healdsburg or Hotel Healdsburg

Montage Healdsburg, a resort in the hills north of town, and Hotel Healdsburg, on the town plaza, are each about 30 minutes from Vérité. The Estate Tasting takes two hours, so this day runs about six and a half hours; book a seven-hour tour, or add the extra time by the hour.

10:00 · Vérité

The Estate Tasting, three current wines and one library vintage, about 2 hours ($250).

12:05 · Lancaster Estate

About 5 minutes away. Ted Simpkins's Cabernet estate in the eastern hills of Alexander Valley, first released in 1995, with barrel caves in the hillside; its 2014 Cabernet made the Wine Spectator Top 100. The seated Estate Tasting of four current wines over the hillside vineyards is $60, 60 minutes, and the Reserve Cave Tasting among the barrels is $100, 90 minutes. By reservation only, Thursday to Monday.

1:25 · Lunch at Catelli's

About 20 minutes away. Santi and Virginia Catelli opened this Geyserville restaurant in 1936, and their granddaughter, chef Domenica Catelli, carries on the family's handmade Italian cooking. Open Wednesday to Sunday from noon. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

3:00 · Jordan Winery

About 15 minutes away. Tom and Sally Jordan's French-inspired chateau, founded in 1972 and named Best Vineyard in North America for 2025 by World's Best Vineyards. Jordan makes only two wines, Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Russian River Valley Chardonnay, and every visit pairs them with food from the estate kitchen. A Taste of Jordan is $60, 45 minutes, daily at 3 p.m. By appointment only; the winery asks guests to arrive 15 minutes early.

3:45 · Back to your hotel

Back in Healdsburg by 4:00 p.m., about six and a half hours after pickup.

Vérité's Estate Tasting takes two hours, so this is a longer day with two shorter tastings after it. Lancaster Estate opens Thursday to Monday and Catelli's Wednesday to Sunday, so this day works Thursday to Sunday, and we confirm Vérité's time before booking the rest.

About $370 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.
