Phil and Sylvia Hurst, who met at UC Davis, founded Truett Hurst in Dry Creek Valley in 2007. Phil began his career at Fetzer Vineyards in 1985 and co-founded Winery Exchange, a private-label beer, wine and spirits company, before selling his stake to build a winery of his own. In 2024 the Hursts partnered with Ken and Diane Wilson of Wilson Artisan Wineries, Dry Creek Valley vintners since the 1980s.
Winemaker Ross Reedy, who studied at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and worked harvests in Australia, New Zealand, Argentina and Napa Valley, makes limited-production wines from sustainably farmed Sonoma County vineyards: bold Zinfandel and Petite Sirah, along with whites, rosé and sparkling wine. The sister winery, VML, pours down the street on Mill Street.
The Tasting Barn is now in downtown Healdsburg, inside the restored 1908 French-American Winery building at Old Roma Station: part tasting room, part art gallery, part gathering place, with rotating local art, live music and seasonal events. The guided Tasting Flight takes about 90 minutes, children and leashed dogs are welcome, and it is five minutes from the plaza hotels, which makes it an easy last stop of the day.
$25 per person for the Truett Hurst Tasting Flight of wines from the Dry Creek and Russian River valleys, a guided tasting of about 90 minutes, complimentary for wine club members.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
