About the Winery
Stringer Cellars is the family winery of winemaker Casey Stringer, who caught the wine bug on a family trip to Napa Valley as a high school student from Wisconsin. He worked at Robert Sinskey Vineyards, Archery Summit in Oregon, wineries in New Zealand and Jonata in Santa Ynez, then spent a few years making wine in Wisconsin from shipped California grapes before bringing the family back to California.
The winery calls itself a winery without boundaries. Casey sources fruit from well-known vineyards across the state, among them Stagecoach on Pritchard Hill, Hyde in Carneros, Rocky Ridge on Howell Mountain, Bien Nacido in Santa Maria Valley and John Sebastiano in the Sta. Rita Hills, and makes small lots with a minimal hand. It is a family affair: Casey's father Chip runs operations, his brothers help with sales, and his wife Brooke often pours.
The wines are made at Grand Cru Custom Crush, a shared winery in Windsor, and tastings there are hosted privately by Casey, so guests taste through several varieties with the person who made them. We confirm current details when we book.

Stringer tastings are available daily with at least 24 hours' notice. DuMOL books weeks ahead, so we reserve it early. Baldassari opens at 1 p.m. Monday to Thursday and Saturday, at 2 p.m. on Friday and at noon on Sunday; on a Friday we visit it a little later.
About $120 per person in tasting fees for DuMOL and Baldassari, plus Stringer's fee, which we confirm when we book. Fees are paid directly to each winery.
