Sosie is the label of Scott MacFiggen and his wife, Regina Bustamante, whose years of travel through the Loire, the Rhône and Burgundy shaped how they think about wine. Sosie is French for twin or spitting image, and the name says what they are after: California wines made the way the French make theirs, with restraint over ripeness and food always in mind.
Since 2021 the wines have been made by Philippe Melka and Maayan Koschitzky of Atelier Melka. Melka trained at Château Haut-Brion, Pétrus and Dominus before becoming one of Napa Valley's most sought-after winemakers, and Koschitzky came to Atelier Melka after working at Screaming Eagle and Dalla Valle. The fruit comes from eight sites chosen for their cooling influences, among them Spring Hill in the Petaluma Gap, Vivio in Bennett Valley, Charlie Smith on Moon Mountain and Stagecoach on Atlas Peak. Picks are early, new oak is limited, and Wine Enthusiast has given 94 points to the Charlie Smith Cabernet Sauvignon, the Spring Hill Pinot Noir and the Vivio Syrah.
The tasting room is on the historic Sonoma Plaza, small and cozy. The Apéritif is a guided introduction chosen by the team, and Your Sosie lets you pick your own flight, from bright whites to Rhône and Bordeaux-style reds. Either way, plan on an unhurried hour or more.
Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation. Sosie offers two guided tastings, The Apéritif and Your Sosie.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
