Slusser Ranch is one of Sonoma County's original homesteads, settled in 1847 by California pioneer Levi Samuel Bacon Slusser and still farmed by the family five generations later. The road that winds to the ranch, Slusser Road, is named for the family. The current generation founded Slusser Ranch Vineyards to celebrate their parents, Peter and Joanne, who planted and cared for the vineyards; W. Peter Slusser has owned and managed the ranch for more than sixty years.
The ranch sits in the Russian River Valley, bounded by Mark West Creek, whose floods have left loamy, mineral-rich soils, and it is still a working ranch with cattle, horses and sheep. The wines are made by Adrian Manspeaker, winemaker at Joseph Jewell since 2006, who first came to the family to buy its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. He makes a Russian River Valley Chardonnay, a Rosé of Pinot Noir, an Old Vine Zinfandel and a Primitivo from the ranch's grapes.
The family describes it as limited-production wine that helps sustain the ranch, offered to friends through its club. There is no tasting room, so Slusser Ranch does not receive visitors. The day below starts next door, at La Crema's estate on Slusser Road, and stays close to the ranch.
Slusser Ranch does not offer tastings. On the day below, expect about $110 per person: $35 at La Crema, $35 at Kendall-Jackson and $40 at Bricoleur.
Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
