Book a Six-Hour Wine Tour
ShatterCane Vineyards is a small bonded winery that farms its own grapes and buys from select vineyards. The winemaker, Cathleen Murphy, built on a background in science and years of travel learning about wine and vineyards, and works with consulting winemakers who favor minimal intervention and classic methods.
Each wine comes from grapes chosen for their site in the Sonoma and Napa valleys. The wines are made at two shared wineries: one in Sonoma County for cool-climate varieties, and one in Napa for varieties that do well in Napa Valley's warmer weather. Production of each wine is limited, and the label describes its aim as wines to drink with the food it grows and cooks.
The wines go to an allocation list and a wine club, and ship from the website. The farm on Grange Road in Santa Rosa lists no tasting room, hours or appointments, so the day below goes to three nearby estates in Bennett Valley and Sonoma Valley that host.
ShatterCane Vineyards does not offer tastings.
On the day below, St. Francis's Artisan Flight is $45, Ledson's Classic Wine Tasting is $45 and the Estate Tasting at Matanzas Creek is $35.
Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
