In 1876 Henry Rued left his vineyards in Switzerland for Northern California. He worked with the Beringer brothers in Napa Valley before buying his own land in 1882 and planting his first vineyard, and the family has grown grapes in Sonoma County ever since. Richard and Dee Rued carried the tradition on with their sons, Steve and Tom.
Steve met his wife, Sonia, in 1993 when both worked at Dry Creek Vineyard. Steve went on to make wine at Kenwood Vineyards, Valley of the Moon and Rutherford Wine Company, and Sonia held enology and winemaking roles at wineries including Seghesio. In 2000 they made the first vintage of Rued wines from the family's grapes; the family farms 160 acres in Dry Creek Valley, the Russian River Valley and Alexander Valley, with six varieties.
The winery and tasting room, finished in 2006, sit among the vineyards on Dry Creek Road. It is a relaxed, family-run stop, where a visit can run from barrel tastings to freshly made pizza, and the lineup covers Dry Creek Valley Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Merlot and Cabernet with Russian River Valley Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
