About the Winery
Roth Estate was founded in 2001 as a tribute to the founder's family name, with the aim of making bold, powerful Cabernet Sauvignon from the Alexander Valley. Over time the mission grew into Bordeaux varieties from several of Sonoma County's best appellations, and the winery is now a member of Foley Family Wines.
The home vineyard sits in the gently rolling hills at the northern reaches of the Russian River Valley, on Chalk Hill Road. Its low-vigor, volcanic soils give Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot of depth and concentration, while nearby sites along the Russian River supply Sauvignon Blanc. The current lineup includes the Heritage Red Blend, a Cabernet Sauvignon and the Ode to the Beast Cabernet Sauvignon.
The tasting room is no longer open for daily tastings, so a visit is now a by-appointment affair, which suits a private day. Chalk Hill Estate, a sister property, is directly across the road, and the two pair easily. We confirm current details when we book.

Roth Estate does not publish its appointment days or hours, so we confirm the appointment first and plan around it. Chalk Hill Estate is open daily, 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rodney Strong is open Thursday to Sunday, with the last reservation at 3 p.m.; Monday to Wednesday we swap in another winery nearby.
