Henry and Holly Wendt founded Quivira in 1981 on Wine Creek Ranch in Dry Creek Valley. Pete and Terri Kight bought the winery in 2006 and still own it. They converted the estate to Demeter-certified Biodynamic farming, then in 2015 moved to CCOF organic certification while keeping Biodynamic practices such as composting and cover crops.
The 110-acre estate is cut in two by Wine Creek, which flows into Dry Creek, and 59 acres are planted to vines. Zinfandel grows on the hillsides, and Sauvignon Blanc and the Rhône varieties Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre on the gravelly valley floor. Since 1998 Quivira has worked with the state to restore Wine Creek for coho salmon and steelhead trout, the first Dry Creek winery to take on creek restoration.
The estate is a working farm, with more than 100 raised beds of heirloom produce, chickens, beehives and a fig tree more than 140 years old. The Estate Tasting is taken at your own pace, at the bar or in the gardens, and there are seated tastings under the olive trees, golf-cart tours of the vineyards and picnics in the redwood grove.
$35 for the Estate Tasting of five current releases, at your own pace. $50 for Sip & Graze, a seated tasting with light snacks under the olive trees. $90 for Through the Vines: Estate Tour & Tasting, up to two hours by golf cart, spring through fall. $50 per table for a Redwood Grove Picnic, and $45 for an Estate Picnic Lunch basket for two, Friday to Sunday.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
