The Ledson family's 2,000-foot Moon Mountain vineyard, tasted privately at the Ledson Castle, and a suggested six-hour day of tasting around it.

Mountain Terraces belongs to the Ledson family, who trace their Sonoma County grape growing to the 1860s, when their great-great-grandfather Zina made small lots of Zinfandel and Aleatico. Steve Ledson, who built the castle winery on the Sonoma Highway, was looking at the property as a possible purchase in December 2012.
The vineyard climbs to 2,000 feet on the western slopes of the Mayacamas on Cavedale Road, the family's highest vineyard. About 80 of its 125 acres are planted, mostly to Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Grenache and Viognier, on ribbons of white, brown and red volcanic soil. The wines are fermented with native yeasts, aged 24 to 30 months in French oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
The vineyard is a private working estate and is not open to the public. Instead, the wines are poured in a seated, reservation-only tasting at the Ledson Castle in Kenwood: five limited-production wines with cheese and charcuterie, guided by Ledson's estate wine consultants.
$135 per person for the Private Tasting at the Ledson Castle, five wines with a cheese and charcuterie pairing, about 2 hours ($95 for allocation members and their guests).
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
