About the Winery

Ed Mascarin's grandfather, Angelo, came from northern Italy in 1904 to plant and farm vineyards for the Italian Swiss Colony, and his father was a cellar master at the Roma Wine Company in the 1930s and 1940s. Ed grew up in the grape and raisin business, and after a long career elsewhere he came back to wine in 2009 as proprietor of Mascarin Family Wines. His daughter, Mia Mascarin Oven, joined in 2010 after 20 years in the energy industry, and the two run the winery together.

The winery makes two labels, 32 Winds and Mascarin, from its own 8-acre estate and from select vineyards, many of them on the cool Sonoma Coast. Winemaker Matt Taylor, a third-generation Sonoma County native who worked at Domaine Dujac and was winegrower and winemaker at Araujo Estate, farms with organic and biodynamic methods and makes the wines with little intervention. The San Francisco Chronicle has named Mascarin one of Sonoma County's top wineries.

Finding it is half the fun: you turn off Dry Creek Road onto a dirt road, pass the vineyard and arrive at a garden, a house and a deck above Dry Creek. Almost all tastings are outdoors under tall olive trees or on the deck, and the hosts make you feel like family. Charcuterie boards, boxed lunches and styled picnics can be added with notice.

Tasting Fees

$45 per person for the seated 32 Winds tasting of five wines, about 60 minutes, for 1 to 6 guests. Picnics, charcuterie and boxed lunches are priced separately.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
