About the Winery

Sam Lando began his career in sales and marketing for large global wine producers, fell for Pinot Noir and took up hobby winemaking. He spent five years working with one of the most sought-after Russian River Valley Pinot Noir producers before leaving at the end of 2012, and in the middle of that vintage he and his wife Jennifer borrowed against their savings to build a small, Pinot Noir-focused winery.

The aim is intense yet elegant, balanced wines from the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast appellations. For 2026 Lando is offering six very limited Pinot Noirs and three Chardonnays from the 2024 vintage: Russian River Valley wines in the spring release and Sonoma Coast wines in the fall, plus an early-summer offer of the HALO Chardonnay and a new Pinot Noir, Henry Robert. The 2024 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is 375 cases, aged 17 months in French oak.

The winery says it is not open for tasting, and most of the wine goes to its mailing list. The day below goes to three estates in the Russian River Valley and Green Valley that do host.

Tasting Fees

Lando does not offer tastings. On the day below, the tasting fees are $60 at Hartford, $45 at Merry Edwards and $35 at Dutton-Goldfield, about $140 per person in all, paid directly to each winery.

Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
