About the Winery

Bob Zeches and Chad Richard have been friends and business partners since the early 1990s, and their shared love of Pinot Noir from California and Oregon led them to make their first two barrels, about 50 cases, in 2006, from the Bohemian Vineyard in Freestone. In 2011 they bought Nevina's Vineyard in Occidental, and in 2015 they bought a winery and vineyard at the corner of Gravenstein Highway and Vine Hill Road, now their home and second estate vineyard, Graton Ridge.

Furthermore set out to study how Pinot Noir expresses itself along the California coast, from the Sta. Rita Hills in Santa Barbara County to the Yorkville Highlands in Mendocino County, alongside its own estate wines from the Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley. It is still a small operation of about 4,000 cases a year. Since 2019 the wines have been made by Ross Cobb, who spent more than 20 years at wineries including Williams Selyem, Flowers and his family's Cobb Wines.

The tasting room opens onto a courtyard with a bocce court in the shade of a giant sequoia, and it is an easy, friendly place to compare Pinot Noirs from up and down the coast. Guests who like the courtyard can stay for a game before we move on.

Tasting Fees

$30 per person, refunded with a two-bottle purchase and complimentary for wine club members.
