Don and Rhonda Carano, hospitality pioneers from Reno, founded Ferrari-Carano in 1981 at the north end of Dry Creek Valley. The winery grew to more than 1,200 planted acres across six appellations, from Alexander Valley and the Russian River Valley to Anderson Valley. Foley Family Wines bought it in 2020.
Rhonda Carano began the estate gardens in 1987, and they now hold more than 2,000 plant species around Villa Fiore, the Italianate tasting room. Late winter brings thousands of tulips and daffodils into bloom.
Ferrari-Carano is best known for Fumé Blanc, about a third of what it makes, along with Chardonnay, the Tuscan-style red Siena and the PreVail reds from its Alexander Valley mountain winery. Walk-in tastings in the villa make it an easy stop, with seated pairings on the pergolas.
Tastings start at $40, including A Taste of Ferrari-Carano for walk-ins. $60 for the Vineyard-Designate Reserve Tasting of five wines. $90 for the 90-minute Pranzo Della Casa pasta pairing, $95 for the Fontana Pergola tasting and $125 for the Aperitivo Pergola food pairing.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
