Dry Creek Valley · Sonoma County
A viticulturist and a gardener's small Pinot Noir label, poured at Bacchus Landing with bocce and a weekend pizza oven in the olive-tree courtyard, and a suggested six-hour day of tasting around it.

DOT began as a dare between husband and wife. Lise Asimont has spent more than 30 years in the wine industry managing vineyards for some of California's best-known wine brands, and Shawn Phillips has spent more than 30 years designing gardens. When Shawn could not find her a Pinot Noir she loved, he dared her to make her own; the dot on the label, with its messy margins, stands for the idea that nothing in life is perfect.
Lise makes the wine like a viticulturist, with as little intervention as possible so the vineyard speaks. It started with a small block of the Lolita Vineyard, a cool hillside in the Forestville area of the Russian River Valley farmed by Lee Martinelli Jr., and now includes fruit from other Russian River Valley sites such as Roan and Kobus. The lineup is small: Pinot Noirs, a dry rosé, a white Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The tasting room is at Bacchus Landing, a winery cooperative just west of Healdsburg, where you taste with the people behind the label and then linger in the olive-tree-lined plaza over a glass or a game of bocce. On weekends the pizza oven is going, and food pairings can be added.
$25 per person, free for DOT wine club members. Wine and food pairings can be added when you book.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Good to Know
Family and pet friendly. Groups larger than 12 and VIP vineyard tours are arranged by email. The pizza oven is open Saturday and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.
Pickup at 10:50 a.m. from a Healdsburg hotel such as Hotel Healdsburg or The Madrona.
Hotel Healdsburg, on the town plaza, and The Madrona, a 24-room hotel on a historic estate on Westside Road, are each about 5 minutes from Bacchus Landing, so we collect you at 10:50 for the 11 a.m. opening. The day below fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.
A tasting of the current Pinot Noirs, rosé and Chardonnay ($25); we allow an hour.
About 15 minutes away. A family winery among its own vines in the middle of Dry Creek Valley; the Rued family has grown grapes in Sonoma County since the 1880s and farms 160 acres. Steve and Sonia Rued make the wines, and a visit can run from barrel tastings to fresh pizza. Open Thursday to Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., by reservation or walk-in; we confirm the fee when we book.
About 15 minutes away. Chef Dino Bugica's restaurant in a historic building on Geyserville Avenue, with Neapolitan-style pizza from a wood-burning oven, handmade pasta and house-cured salumi; the menu changes every day. Lunch is served daily from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 25 minutes away. The Martorana family bought its land on West Dry Creek Road in 1983, and today certified organic vineyards and olive trees surround a small winery where tastings can be poured in the wine cave; Gio Martorana makes Olio di Gio olive oil on a traditional press from Italy. Tasting fees are confirmed when we book. Open Friday to Monday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; walk-ins welcome up to 10 guests, reservations recommended.
Back in Healdsburg by 4:30 p.m.
Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting. DOT opens to walk-ins Friday to Sunday, Rued Thursday to Sunday and Martorana Friday to Monday, so this day works Friday to Sunday. It ends around 4:30.
About $25 per person at DOT, paid directly to the winery; tasting fees at Rued and Martorana are to be verified upon reservation.
