About the Winery

Dr. Alfred deLorimier, a groundbreaking pediatric surgeon in San Francisco, was looking for a place away from the city when he fell for Alexander Valley, and he founded deLorimier Winery in 1986 to make California Bordeaux-style wines. His first vintage was two blends, Spectrum Sauvignon Blanc and Mosaic Meritage, and the winery still makes both. In 2008 Ken and Diane Wilson, who farm hundreds of acres of Dry Creek Valley hillside and also own Wilson Winery, added deLorimier to their family of wineries.

In 1991 Dr. deLorimier bought the Crazy Creek vineyard on Geysers Road, in the heart of Alexander Valley, and planted 30 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, which became a flagship wine from 2002. The 2016 Cabernet won the red sweepstakes at the 2020 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, where the judges named it the best red wine in America that year. Diane Wilson and Antoine Favero make the wines, which now also include Primitivo, Zinfandel, Malbec and Cabernet Franc.

The tasting room sits among the estate vineyards just east of Geyserville, with a courtyard and a back patio that looks across the whole valley, and that view is why we like it as a first stop. It is easy and welcoming: walk-ins are taken daily for parties of up to six, the five-wine flight runs from Sauvignon Blanc to Cabernet and Meritage, and on most Saturdays the winery also offers a seated wine and food pairing.

Tasting Fees

$25 for the five-wine tasting flight, waived with a bottle purchase.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
