The De La Montanya family has six generations of Northern California farming and winemaking behind it. In 1995 Dennis and Tina De La Montanya founded De La Montanya Estate Vineyards, planting Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Viognier at their Home Ranch in the Russian River Valley. Eight years later, in the summer of 2003, they opened the winery and tasting room in southern Dry Creek Valley, just off Westside Road.
The family now farms more than 200 acres of vineyards in Sonoma and Lake counties, from the Sonoma Coast and Petaluma Gap to Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley and Big Valley, and sells about 90 percent of the fruit to other wineries. The best clusters stay home for about 3,600 cases a year, made in small batches of more than 30 varieties, some only a single barrel. Signature wines include Viognier, Zinfandel, Primitivo, Tempranillo, Pinot Noir and red blends.
This is one of the friendliest, least formal stops in the valley. Guests taste at the bar in The Barn or sit out in the patio and garden, and there is a good chance of meeting a member of the family. Add a charcuterie board from Journeyman Meat Company, or settle into the backyard with a bottle and a picnic.
$30 per person for the Estate Tasting, at the bar or seated in the garden, waived with each bottle purchased. $40 for a charcuterie board, reserved 24 hours ahead. The Backyard Picnic + Bottle Service asks for one bottle per person.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
