Ken Wilson, owner of Wilson Artisan Wines, one of Sonoma County's largest family-owned winery groups, founded Coyote Sonoma in 2018 as a gathering place for Healdsburg. It is also a return to his past: in 1971 he played bamboo flute and wrote most of the songs on Whole Earth Rhythm, the album by the psychedelic rock and Indian classical fusion band Saddhu Brand.
Coyote Sonoma is a winery with its own label, made by three winemakers, Diane Wilson, Antoine Favero and Chris Barrett. The current releases lean on Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon, from vineyards such as Tombstone and Kitchen Hill, with Russian River Valley Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, a Mendocino Sauvignon Blanc and a Sonoma County red blend.
The tasting bar sits in the Mill District of downtown Healdsburg, just off the roundabout, so it is the easiest stop of the day. A host guides you through a flight of five wines at the indoor bar or on the big outdoor patio, and Friday and Saturday evenings the taproom turns into a live-music venue. Members of Coyote Sonoma and the Wilson Artisan wine clubs taste free.
$20 per person for a guided flight of five Coyote Sonoma wines, about 45 minutes, waived with a two-bottle purchase. Free for Coyote Sonoma and Wilson Artisan Wineries club members and up to 4 guests.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
