About the Winery

BuonGuido is the wine of three Italian-American families, the Cataldis, Mazzettis and Guidos, and calls itself an ode to their ancestors and their humble Southern Italian origins. Its top Cabernet is named for Amantea, the small town in Calabria where Ralph Guido was born, and another block honors Anna 'Nana' Cataldi and three great-uncles of the family, all World War II veterans.

The wines come from the 20-acre Guido Family Vineyard on the Eastern Bench above Dry Creek Valley, a property studded with ancient live oaks, with a seasonal creek at its low point and a steep 120-foot climb to the top of a hill. It is farmed on organic, regenerative principles, with owl boxes along the creek, bat boxes around the vines, two beehives, a two-acre orchard and a large vegetable garden. The single-block estate Cabernet Sauvignons from the Amantea and Cataldi blocks spend 19 months in French oak, made with minimal intervention.

BuonGuido has no tasting room or public hours. Tastings are private, requested through the winery's website Monday to Saturday, and the family also offers lunch and wine pairings; the team answers within 24 hours, though not every request can be met. We send the request for you and plan the rest of the day around the time the family confirms.
