Banshee Wines was born in 2009 at a bar in the Dogpatch neighborhood of San Francisco, when its founders launched the label with money from friends and family and eight barrels of Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. The aim was wines that taste like the best California has to offer at prices everyone can afford. Banshee moved to Healdsburg, opened its first tasting room downtown in 2013, and in 2023 relocated to its own winery in Alexander Valley. It is a member of Foley Family Wines.
The focus is Pinot Noir from the cool coastal areas of the West Sonoma Coast and Sonoma County, with single-vineyard wines from sites such as Trenton Vineyard in the Russian River Valley, the Barlow Lane-Ana'Veem Vineyard near Graton, Grand Vent on the Sonoma Coast and Middleridge Ranch in Anderson Valley. Banshee also makes Sauvignon Blanc, coastal Chardonnay, rosé, Cabernet, a red blend called Mordecai and a sparkling wine, Ten of Cups. Current Pinot Noir and Cabernet sell for about $25 a bottle.
The website says the Banshee Hospitality Center in Geyserville is currently closed for tastings. Wine is sold online, at stores and through the Banshee Club, whose members can also book guest homes on the estate. The day below stays in the northern Alexander Valley around Geyserville, at three family estates that host.
Banshee is not offering tastings while its hospitality center is closed. The three wineries on the day below run about $90 per person: $40 at Zialena, $25 at Trentadue and $25 at Robert Young.
Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
