Vault Wine + Artifacts opened in 2021 at the eastern gateway to downtown Calistoga, in the Lincoln Avenue building that was once Roam Antiques. Proprietor Mario Sculatti, whose family has lived in St. Helena since 1901, rebuilt the space with his business partner, Trevor Mallett. He reused reclaimed wood, added two more glass-paned garage doors and a flagstone patio, and turned an antique shop into a tasting room.
Vault is a wine collective and antique store. It pours small-production wines from partner vintners alongside Kanamota, a Bordeaux-style red blend named for the Wappo name for Mount St. Helena. Sculatti learned winemaking as a protege of the late Denis Malbec, a former cellar master at Chateau Latour, and his father, Ron, was a cellar assistant on the famous 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay.
The room is built around a Roman wine press with a limestone basin from Italy, surrounded by old hand-made presses, a large corkscrew collection, velvet chairs and glass-blown lighting. Some of the antiques are for sale. Walk-in tastings are first come, first served, and private tastings in the Vault room can be booked 24 hours ahead.
Vault does not post tasting prices online. Walk-in tastings and private tastings in the Vault room are offered, and we confirm current pricing when we book your visit.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
