About the Winery
H.W. Crabb planted vines in Oakville more than 150 years ago and named his winery To Kalon, Greek for "highest beauty." The vineyard has been one of the most storied in Napa Valley ever since. Constellation Brands' fine wine division launched To Kalon Vineyard Company in 2019 as a direct expression of the vineyard itself, with Andy Erickson, formerly head winemaker at Staglin Family Vineyard, making the first release.
That first wine, the 2016 Highest Beauty Cabernet Sauvignon, came to 500 cases at $200 a bottle. Erickson said what amazed him about the vineyard is that it gives wines with very soft tannins and yet incredible focus. The parcels lie in the Oakville AVA, one of the world's most important origins for Cabernet Sauvignon, around Robert Mondavi Winery.
Since July 2026 the wines are poured in the To Kalon Collective at Robert Mondavi Winery's Oakville estate, alongside Schrader Cellars and Double Diamond. Each experience is a private, guided tasting in its own space for 1 to 8 guests, so it feels unhurried and personal, a seated way to taste a famous vineyard. From Yountville it is a short drive, so the morning starts without a rush.
Tasting Fees
$180 per person plus an 18% hospitality fee for the To Kalon Vineyard Company Experience, a private guided tasting for 1 to 8 guests. The To Kalon Collective Experience is also $180, and the Schrader Cellars Experience is $195. Lengths are not published; we plan about 90 minutes.

About 10 minutes away. A stone château built in 1887 as the H.H. Harris Wine Cellar on the Rutherford benchland, dormant for 115 years until the Martin family planted its first vines in 1996. By prior appointment only, with priority for club and mailing list members; the fee is confirmed when we book. We allow about an hour.

Martin Estate and Vine Cliff 1871 host by request only, so we send the requests early and suggest other Rutherford or Oakville estates if a date is taken. Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting.
