The Stanton family has grown grapes in Napa Valley since 1947, when Jesse Stanton bought his first parcel, a 100-acre vineyard in Yountville. Today his grandson, Doug Stanton, and Doug's father, John, farm about 75 acres in three vineyards: 33 acres in Oakville, planted by John in 1971, and two in St. Helena, on Mills Lane and at JB Ranch. They do the farming themselves, and most of the fruit is sold to wineries such as Stags Leap, Merryvale, Orin Swift and Groth.
The family started its own label in 1999 with a small lot of Cabernet Sauvignon from a few of the best rows in Oakville. Dave Phinney made the 2002 vintage, and the first Petite Sirah followed in 2004. The label stays deliberately small, at about 800 cases a year, and uses less than 7% of the family's grapes.
There is no public tasting room. Tastings are arranged directly with Doug Stanton by phone or email, and the winery says it looks forward to hosting you and your party. We arrange the visit and confirm where and when it takes place when we book.
Stanton Vineyards does not publish a tasting fee. The fee, if any, is confirmed when we book.
Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
