Sabrina and Timothy Persson came to Napa Valley in 2012 and founded Stalworth to make, in their words, uncompromising wines that would capture the imagination of a new generation. They are the second generation of Hess Persson Estates, and Stalworth's first vintages were made in that winery's rebuilt cellar. Partner Nicholas Fitch, who worked with Thomas Keller's three-Michelin-star restaurants, oversees the brand and hospitality.
Winemaker Celia Welch, with three decades of Napa winemaking and a particular name for Rutherford, makes two Cabernets from small sites on the valley's western benchlands: an organically farmed Rutherford vineyard with red-toned fruit and a dry-farmed Oakville vineyard with darker fruit. The first vintage was 2018, 167 cases. The 2023 Rutherford (365 cases) and Oakville (190 cases) were released in February 2026.
Stalworth sells through an acquisition waitlist on its website, and it publishes no tasting room or visiting program, so it does not receive visitors. The day below stays on the Rutherford and Oakville benchlands, at estates that do host, with lunch on the terrace at Auberge du Soleil.
Stalworth does not offer tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Rancho Caymus Inn or Harvest Inn.
Since Stalworth does not host visitors, this day takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do, on the Rutherford and Oakville benchlands where its Cabernet grows. Rancho Caymus Inn, at the Rutherford crossroads, and Harvest Inn, at the south end of St. Helena, are each about 12 to 15 minutes from the first stop. The day fits in about five and a half hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.
About 12 minutes away. A family Sangiovese vineyard in Oakville, replanted from the family's own Rodeno clone budwood after phylloxera, with Michaela Rodeno, St. Supéry's CEO for 21 years, helping run it. By appointment; the fee is confirmed when we book. We allow about an hour.
About 12 minutes away. A young family winery with an 11-acre Rutherford estate of Cabernet Sauvignon, founded in 2020 by Mason and Kathryn Revelette. By private request, with no public tasting room; the place and fee are confirmed when we book. We allow about an hour.
About 12 minutes away. Lunch high on Rutherford Hill with the whole valley below. The Bar serves all day from 11:30 a.m., and The Restaurant on the terrace offers a two- or three-course prix fixe lunch. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 10 minutes away. A stone château built in 1887 as the H.H. Harris Wine Cellar on the Rutherford benchland, dormant for 115 years until the Martin family planted its first vines in 1996. By prior appointment only, with priority for club and mailing list members; the fee is confirmed when we book. We allow about an hour.
Back by about 3:30 p.m., five and a half hours after pickup.
Tasting fees for all three estates are confirmed when we book; none publishes a price online. They are paid directly to each winery.
All three host by appointment or private request, Martin Estate with priority for its club and mailing list, so we confirm the times before the day is set. Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting.
