Rutledge & Vine is the family label of Rob Mondavi Jr. and his wife Lydia. Rob, born in 1971, is the son of Isabel and Michael Mondavi and a fourth-generation Napa Valley winemaker who grew up in the Stags Leap District and spent his childhood around Robert Mondavi Winery. He co-founded Spellbound and Medusa wines in 2003 and leads winemaking and vineyards for the Michael Mondavi Family Estate.
The wine is a single Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon from a vineyard in Oakville's red earth soils, alongside the Silverado Trail at Skellenger Lane, on gently sloping volcanic and alluvial ground. James Suckling rated the 2019 at 98 points, and the 2016, of which 75 cases were made, at 96 points and #76 of his top 100 wines of 2020.
There is no tasting room. Rutledge & Vine sells through its Founder's Circle membership, and its calendar of events is open only to members. The day below stays on the Silverado Trail and Oakville Cross Road, near the vineyard, with three family wineries that do host.
Rutledge & Vine does not offer tastings.
The day below runs about $175 per person in tasting fees at Miner, ZD and Groth.
Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
