About the Winery

Bill Nemerever had been visiting Napa Valley since the 1970s. In the winter of 1997 his wife Ginger spotted an ad in the St. Helena Star for a ten-acre parcel on Oakville Cross Road, and they bought it the next year. The Cabernet vines had been planted in 1992 on the advice of Silver Oak co-founder Justin Meyer, and Bill never replanted them.

In the early 2000s a 4,000-square-foot cave was dug into the hillside, and every vintage still ages there. The library reaches back to the first release in 1998. Art Finkelstein made the wines through 2014 and Jeff Ames since 2015, so a side-by-side pour shows how Oakville Cabernet has changed over thirty years. The estate makes fewer than 250 cases a year.

A visit here is personal and unhurried: about two hours in the cave with Bill or a friend of the estate, a short walk through the blocks, the current release and a pour or two from the library. Groups are small and there is no tasting fee, no membership tier and no velvet rope. The exact address comes with the confirmation; we arrange it on your behalf.

Tasting Fees

No tasting fee. The visit is about two hours in the estate cave, with a short vineyard walk, the current release and a pour or two from the library.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
