About the Winery
Kerrin Laz founded LAZ after years as wine director at Dean & DeLuca, where she came to know many of the valley's small producers. The first LAZ Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, from the 2014 vintage, was released in October 2016.
The wine is made by Celia Welch, one of the valley's best-known consulting winemakers. It is a Bordeaux-style Napa Valley Cabernet; the 2015, for example, was 85% Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. Production is small, and the wine is sold to the mailing list and through Kerrin's shop.
You taste at K. Laz Wine Collection on Washington Street in Yountville, now home to Vintners Social Club by K. LAZ, part members club and part public wine bar with sought-after California and international wines. The tasting pours the newest LAZ release with a few library wines, a nice way to meet a small label in a relaxed room.

Both are in Yountville, about 10 minutes from Rudd, the first stop. Napa Valley Lodge is at the north end of town by the vineyards, and Vintage House is in the center of town. The day below fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.

About 10 minutes away. An organically farmed estate on the Oakville Cross Road with 20,000 square feet of caves. Every visit is scheduled in advance with the hospitality team, and the fee is confirmed then; we allow about 90 minutes. By appointment only.

About 10 minutes away. The newest LAZ Cabernet and a few library wines at K. Laz Wine Collection on Washington Street. We plan about an hour; the fee is confirmed when we book.

About 10 minutes away. Lunch at Bistro Don Giovanni, an Italian restaurant among the vineyards on Howard Lane, a valley favorite for more than 30 years, open daily from 11:30 a.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

About 15 minutes away. Bill Foley and Carol Johnson Foley's Rutherford estate, with tastings in a converted 1920s redwood barn among the vines and a terrace facing the Vaca Mountains. The Luxury Cabernet Tasting in the VIP room is $100, with the Peral Vineyard Cabernet and a cheese and charcuterie board; we allow about an hour. Open daily; last tasting at 4 p.m.
