Cabernet from three steep, dynamited terraces above the Stags Leap District, poured at private tastings in The Caves at Soda Canyon, and a suggested six-hour day of tasting around it.

Julie and Frank Husic bought their hillside property in 1995 and learned the county was about to restrict hillside planting, so they moved quickly. With viticulturist Jim Barbour, they won a permit in 1996 and planted in 1997 on land that had never been farmed. The first harvest was in 2001.
The ground was cleared, dynamited and carved into narrow terraces, creating three small, rocky vineyards of about nine acres that climb from the valley floor to roughly 900 feet. The lowest vines sit inside the Stags Leap District line; the rest are above it. They grow Cabernet Sauvignon and a little Petit Verdot for the Husic and Palm Terrace Cabernets.
Husic does not have its own tasting room. Instead the family pours a custom selection of its wines at private tastings in The Caves at Soda Canyon, in the hills above the Stags Leap District. Besides the estate Cabernets, the lineup can include Sonoma Coast Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, a rosé of Pinot Noir and a late harvest Semillon.
Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation. Husic does not publish a fee for its private tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Good to Know
The tasting is a custom selection poured at The Caves at Soda Canyon, not at the estate. Club members receive three bottles twice a year and a 10% discount; magnums are sold only to members.
Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Silverado Resort or Milliken Creek Inn.
Silverado Resort, at the foot of Atlas Peak, and Milliken Creek Inn, on the Napa River off the Silverado Trail, are each about 10 to 15 minutes from The Caves at Soda Canyon. The day below fits about six hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.
A private tasting of a custom selection of Husic wines in The Caves at Soda Canyon. The length is not published; we plan about 75 minutes, and the time is confirmed by email with the winery.
About 20 minutes away. A hillside estate above Yountville with a castle-style tasting room, deep caves and Bordeaux-style reds. The Classic Experience is $175 for five or more wines; we allow about 90 minutes. By appointment, Tuesday to Saturday.
About 8 minutes away. Lunch at Mustards Grill on Highway 29 just north of Yountville, open seven days a week from 11:30 a.m. (11 a.m. Friday to Sunday). Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 15 minutes away. Mark Jessup, a Napa native who helped make the early Opus One wines, pours his small-lot Cabernet at a private sit-down tasting. It is $75 per person; we plan about an hour. By appointment, daily 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Back by about 4:05 p.m., about six hours after pickup.
About $250 per person in published tasting fees for Blankiet and J Gregory, plus the Husic fee, which is confirmed upon reservation. Fees are paid directly to each winery.
Blankiet hosts Tuesday to Saturday, so this plan suits those days; on Sunday or Monday we swap in another estate. Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting.
