About the Winery

Hunter Glenn is the label of Jeffrey Shifflett Jr., his sister Caroline and their mother, Ellen. The Shifflett family came to Napa Valley in 1942, when Wade Sr. and Mary Elizabeth bought 120 acres in the foothills of the Mayacamas, known in the family simply as The Ranch. Grapes went in from the late 1970s, and for more than 30 years Shifflett fruit has gone to well-known Napa producers.

Jeffrey, a fourth-generation farmer, makes the wines and farms the vineyards; Caroline handles sales and relationships, and Ellen has the final call on the Chardonnay. Hunter Glenn Estate is a small property in St. Helena with a barn and 5 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, replanted in 2018. The Shifflett Ranch adds Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah, and Chardonnay comes from the Starscape Vineyard near the Russian River.

Visits are by appointment, at either the St. Helena estate or the ranch, and are arranged directly with the family. It is a chance to meet the people who farm the vines and taste a small range that runs from rosé and sparkling rosé to Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. We confirm current details when we book.

Tasting Fees

Hunter Glenn does not publish a tasting fee. Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation; the family confirms the format and any fee when the visit is set.

Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
