David and Linda Jenkins spent twenty years traveling the wine regions of France, Italy and California before they found this estate. They first toured it in 2007, when it was Harris Estate Vineyards, and came back to buy it in 2014, renaming it for its past as the Heritage School for Boys. With their four daughters, the Jenkins family looks after the property today.
The 48-acre estate sits in the northwest corner of the valley, on an extension of Diamond Mountain inside the Calistoga AVA, with old stone walls and a secluded feel. Its 6 acres of vines grow only Cabernet Sauvignon, bottled by block as Hillside, Lakeview and Creekside, plus Indulgence and Estate Select. Thomas Rivers Brown has made the wine here since 2006, and Josh Clark farms the vineyards.
Heritage School is not a tasting room. Visits to the estate are reserved for wine club members and special guests by invitation, and the family asks anyone interested to call. We make that call for you, and if a visit is offered we build the day around it, with a stop at Rivers-Marie, Thomas Rivers Brown's own winery, in the afternoon.
Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation. Heritage School does not publish a tasting fee; visits are by invitation.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Guests must be 21 or over. A visit depends on an invitation, so ask well ahead; the wine club is the surest way in. Group size and pet policy are not published; we confirm them if a visit is offered.
Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Indian Springs or Calistoga Motor Lodge. Heritage School sets visits by invitation, so the start time may move once the estate confirms.
Indian Springs, the historic hot springs resort, and Calistoga Motor Lodge, a restyled mid-century lodge with its own spa, are both in town, about 10 minutes from the estate on the northwest edge of Calistoga. If the family offers a different time, we build the day around it. The day below fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.
A visit by invitation to the estate, with its stone walls and Cabernet blocks below Diamond Mountain. The estate does not publish a length of visit or fee, so we allow about an hour and confirm the details when the visit is accepted.
About 12 minutes away. A small Calistoga estate on Dunaweal Lane making hand-crafted wines since 1984 from dry-farmed, single-vineyard blocks. The Estate Tasting is a private, seated pour of five estate wines; current prices are shown when you reserve, and we allow about an hour and a quarter. By reservation only, four days a week; parties of 2 to 8.
About 8 minutes away. Lunch at Solbar, the restaurant at Solage in Calistoga, serving lunch Monday through Saturday from 11:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 10 minutes away. Thomas Rivers Brown and Genevieve Marie Welsh's own winery on Foothill Boulevard, opened in 2020, pouring small-lot single-vineyard Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet. A seated tasting of current wines takes about 60 to 90 minutes; the fee is confirmed when the winery accepts the reservation. By advance reservation only, with tastings at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m.
Back by about 3:45 p.m., within six hours of pickup.
Tasting fees for Heritage School, Canard and Rivers-Marie are not published; each is confirmed when the visits are arranged and paid directly to each winery.
Heritage School hosts by invitation only, so the day is set once the estate confirms. Canard hosts four days a week and Solbar serves lunch Monday to Saturday; we confirm days when booking.
