About Pam Starr

• Earned a fermentation science degree from UC Davis in the mid-1980s.
• A harvest internship at Sonoma-Cutrer changed her plans from dental school to wine; next came a season at Edna Valley Vineyard.
• Spent six to seven years as enologist and assistant winemaker at Carmenet Winery in Sonoma.
• Winemaker at Spottswoode in St. Helena from 1991 to 1997.
• Co-founded Crocker & Starr in 1997 with Charlie Crocker on the historic Dowdell/Crocker estate in St. Helena, starting with about 100 cases of Cabernet Franc and converting the vineyard to organic farming.
• From 1997 also consulted for Adastra (Carneros), Gemstone Vineyard (Yountville) and Garric Cellars (Calistoga), among others.
• Crocker & Starr opened its tasting room in a restored 1918 farmhouse in 2008 and its own winery in 2016.
• By 2024 Julie Robertson was Crocker & Starr's winemaker, with Starr as consulting winemaker.
