VML was born out of a passion for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. It was introduced within the Truett Hurst portfolio with the 2009 vintage, a Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir from the Boudreaux Vineyard and a Russian River Valley Pinot Noir from the Ivywood Vineyard, which is still under contract today. Ross Reedy, who started making wine as a teenager with his father from their family vineyard in Alexander Valley and studied wine and viticulture at Cal Poly, leads the winemaking.
The focus has always been the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast appellations, with single-vineyard wines from regenerative and organic vineyards found through long relationships with growers across western Sonoma County. The label is part of the fun: since the first vintage it has carried a steampunk take on Albrecht Dürer, a magic circle of chanting figures surrounded by insects, flowers and astrological signs, with the line "At equinox fall they planted the first seed and left it in the hands of the moon and the stars."
The tasting room is in downtown Healdsburg, a few blocks from the plaza. The Celestial Tasting is unhurried: your host presents five wines over about 90 minutes, single-vineyard and appellation Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and explains what sets each site apart. Walk-ins are welcome, though weekends are worth booking.
$25 per person for the Celestial Tasting of five wines, about 90 minutes.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
