Book a Six-Hour Wine Tour
Viszlay Vineyards is a family-owned and operated boutique winery a few minutes south of Healdsburg, with its winery and tasting room atop a vineyard-covered hill high above the Russian River Valley. It is a small, personal operation: the wines are made in small lots and are sold only at the winery and through its wine club, so this is the place to taste them.
The 10-acre estate vineyard is farmed sustainably, and the winemaking follows traditional styles meant to give soft, elegant, balanced wines. The lineup covers Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, a Cabernet and Merlot blend, Zinfandel and Petite Sirah, with older vintages kept back for the library and reserve list.
The view from the hilltop is a big part of the visit. The Daily Tasting is relaxed and about an hour; the Reserve and Library Tasting digs into the rare bottles, a cheese pairing lets you linger over the vineyard view, and in season a Vineyard Walk Tasting heads out among the vines at 11:30. On the first Friday of each month, the winery hosts cigars with the winemaker in the early evening.
$20 per person for the Daily Tasting, about 60 minutes, waived with a three-bottle purchase. $40 for the Reserve and Library Tasting. $35 for the Cheese and Wine Pairing. $30 for the seasonal Vineyard Walk Tasting, about 75 minutes.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Pickup at 10:50 a.m. from a Healdsburg hotel such as Hotel Healdsburg or The Madrona.
Hotel Healdsburg, on the town plaza, and The Madrona, a 24-room hotel on a historic estate on Westside Road, are each about 10 minutes from Viszlay. The day below fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.
The first stop. The Reserve and Library Tasting on the hilltop ($40, about an hour); the Daily Tasting is $20.
About 20 minutes away. Chef Dino Bugica's restaurant in Geyserville, with Neapolitan-style pizza from a wood-burning oven, handmade pasta and house-cured salumi. Open daily from 11:30 a.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 10 minutes away. Debra Mathy's family-run winery at the confluence of Dry Creek and Dutcher Creek, in a 1900s-style farmhouse winery whose breezeway frames the whole northern end of the valley; guests love the view from the patio. The winery does not publish its tasting fee; we confirm it when we book. Reservations recommended; open daily 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
About 20 minutes away. Six generations of the Young family have farmed this Alexander Valley ranch since 1858; Robert Young was the first to plant Cabernet Sauvignon in the valley, and his son Fred founded the estate winery in 1997. Tastings are hosted at the Scion House, mostly outside on the back terrace with views over the valley: the signature tasting is $50 and the reserve flight of single-block wines with light bites $85, each 90 minutes, at 11 a.m., 1 or 3 p.m. Reservations required, Wednesday to Monday.
Back in Healdsburg by 4:55 p.m.
Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting. Robert Young hosts Wednesday to Monday at set times, so this day works Wednesday to Monday, with an early lunch so you reach the 3 p.m. Robert Young tasting. It ends around 4:55.
About $70 to $125 per person at Viszlay and Robert Young, paid directly to each winery; Dutcher Crossing's fee is to be verified upon reservation.
