Alexander Valley · Sonoma County
A family of Italian growers from Le Marche pouring Sangiovese, Barbera and Lacrima from their own vineyards in Geyserville, and a suggested six-hour day of tasting around it.

The Ramazzotti story began in 1958, when Joe (Giuseppe) Ramazzotti came to Dry Creek Valley from Italy's Le Marche region with his parents, Germano and Yolanda, and his sisters, bringing a love of Italian farming and winemaking with them. Joe has grown grapes locally since 1975, and in 2002 he and his wife, Norma, founded Ramazzotti Wines. In 2014 longtime friends Mel and Patty Ratto, from another Italian family, became partners.
Every wine comes from vineyards Joe manages, among them the Burton, Frei, Heller, Pigoni, Redwood and Smith ranches, and the specialty is Italian varieties and blends: Sangiovese, Barbera, Vermentino and the rarely seen Lacrima. The family's guiding idea is la terra, the earth and what it gives.
The tasting room in Geyserville is rustic-modern and casual, and the winemakers are often behind the counter pouring and answering questions. It feels like being welcomed into an Italian family, and guests are free to bring food to enjoy with the wines, which makes it an easy, friendly stop after a longer estate tour.
Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Groups of up to 8 can walk in; larger groups should reserve. Outside food is welcome. The tasting room closes occasionally for club events.
Pickup at 9:20 a.m. from a Healdsburg hotel such as Hotel Healdsburg or h2hotel.
Hotel Healdsburg, on the town plaza, and h2hotel, just off the Healdsburg plaza, are each about 40 minutes from Knights Bridge, our first stop, over the hills on Highway 128 into Knights Valley. Ramazzotti opens at 11, so we visit it after lunch. The day below fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.
About 40 minutes away. Jim and Essel Bailey's estate in Knights Valley, Sonoma's easternmost appellation, with a winery and caves designed by Howard Backen. The Knights Bridge Estate Experience, a guided walk through the vineyard, winery and caves and then a seated tasting, is $150, prepaid, for 1 to 4 guests; allow about two hours.
About 35 minutes away. Santi and Virginia Catelli opened this Geyserville restaurant in 1936, and their granddaughter, chef Domenica Catelli, carries on the family's handmade Italian cooking. Open Wednesday to Sunday from noon; we reserve the table for you. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 5 minutes away. A tasting of the family's Italian varietals; we confirm the fee when we book.
About 25 minutes away. A small label from an Alexander Valley farming family: Chardonnay from the Stone Vineyard on Chalk Hill Road, planted by the family in 1972 along Maacama Creek and once the source of Grgich Hills Chardonnays of the 1970s, and Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, made by a winemaker whose rule is to keep it clean and stay away from oak. Tastings by appointment; the fee is confirmed when we book.
Back in Healdsburg by 4:40 p.m.
Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting. Ramazzotti opens Thursday to Monday and Catelli's Wednesday to Sunday, so this day works Thursday to Sunday. The Knights Bridge tour takes about two hours, so this is a fuller day, from 9:20 a.m. to about 4:40; extra time is added by the hour.
About $150 per person for Knights Bridge; the Ramazzotti and Carpenter fees are to be verified upon reservation. Each is paid directly to the winery.
Every tour is custom. This day is a starting point: your chauffeur will shape it around what matters to you, and we plan multi-day tours for guests who want to see more of wine country.
